Surrey is your gateway to the south east of England, and London. The county covers some 1500 square kilometres between London to the North and the protected countryside of the Surrey Hills to the south.
Family activities and adventure parks, wild open spaces with beautiful landscapes and views, historic houses and gardens, or boat trips on the Thames. Surrey really is a county for everyone with so much to see and do.
Surrey plays host to national and international events. There is an extensive programme of flower shows, food and beer festivals. There are music, literary, and dance events, sporting championships, firework spectaculars, carnivals and farmers' markets.
Towns & Villages
Visit Farnham, the jewel in the west, with its castle, quaint streets and museum. Relax in nearby Frensham country park.
Guidford, where the centuries meet, with its cobbled high street watched over by the modern cathedral on Stag Hill. Where its international sports venue nestles alongside traditional farmland, and where its renowned theatre provides culture on the banks of the River Wey.
Descend from the heights of Box Hill to the old market town of Dorking. Meander among its antique shops, visit the museum, enjoy a concert at the Dorking Halls, exert yourselves at the new sports complex, before indulging in the delights of Polesden Lacey, Clandon Park and Denbies Vineyard. History
A plethora of royal palaces, historic houses, small country churches and excellent museums ensure that any visitor to Surrey will leave feeling enriched and maybe even surprised at the wealth and variety of things that are on offer.
With the signing of the Magna Carta at Runnymede in 1215, Surrey became the birthplace of British democracy
Historic Hampton Court Palace, one of Henry the VIII's residences, is located near Kingston along the beautiful Thames Riverside, with beautiful gardens and its famous maze.
